Wilda Mae Jarrett- Jones age 72 of Clarksville, TN (formerly of Newbern, TN.) died Saturday, November 19, 2016 at her residence. McCreight Funeral Home is in charge. Visitation will be held Saturday, November 26, 2016 11:00a.m.-11:55a.m. at Hopewell Cumberland Presbyterian Church in the Millisfield community in Dyersburg. Funeral Service will at follow 12:Noon with Rev. Robert Kirk Jr. officiating. Burial will be held in the Hopewell church cemetery. Wilda Mae Jarrett-Jones was born November 23, 1943 in Newbern, Tennessee to the late Reverend Clark Josephus Jarrett Sr. and Catherine Mae Kirk. She accepted Christ at the age of 12 at the Halls Chapel CME Church in Newbern, Tennessee where her father was the pastor. Wilda received her formal education in the Dyer County School System. She was very proud 1962 graduate of the Historic Bruce High School. Wilda met the love of her life; Lee Franklin Jones in high school and they would later marry on December 28, 1964 in Newbern, Tennessee. Lee and Wilda moved to Flint, Michigan and began their family. Wilda attended Nursing School in Southbend, Indiana. Wilda became a faithful member of Saint James CME Church in Flint, Michigan for 34 years. Wilda served on the Stewardess Board, Choir, and Sunday School and other capacities as needed. Wilda was employed by General Motors for over 20 years before she put away her watch. She then picked up her calendar to spend more time with her grandchildren. She and Lee retired and moved to Clarksville, Tennessee to be with their girls, grandkids, her sister and brother. Wilda also spent her retirement caring for her family, friends, and often people she did not know through her many acts of kindness and love for the Lord. Wilda leaves to cherish her memory: her loving and devoted daughters; Lorinda Jones, Latanja Jones- Blacknall both (Clarksville), LuSheena Jones-Coofer (Goodlettsville), and step-son Mickey Lee Jones (Chicago); grandchildren; Latoya Ralford, Sharonda Jones, Khalia Jones, Lewilden Bell, Tanquanae Blacknall, Jurinda Ayala, D'Onshuv'e Coofer, Jubria Ayala, and Jurintez Ayala; God -Children, Anthony Harris, Tamara Nicole Hunt, and Kenneth Clark Mays; Siblings, Genora Mays of Dyersburg, Tennessee and Clark Josephus Jarrett (Emma Lee) of Newbern, Tennessee; Uncle; Reverend Robert Kirk Sr. of Louisville, Kentucky; In-laws, Ruth Jones of Flint, Michigan, Ruby Jean Starks (Freddie) of Gary, Indiana, Eulahia of Flint, Michigan, Katie Joyce Lindley of Arlington, Texas, Carolyn Hunt (Robert) of Cheltenham, Maryland, William Jones (Michelle) of Hermitage, Tennessee, Linda Agnew (Barnett) of Dyersburg, Tennessee, and Brenda Jones of Toledo, Ohio and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Wilda was preceded in death by her parents Reverend Clark Josephus Jarrett Sr. and Catherine Mae Kirk- Jarrett; brother, Joseph Hodges Jarrett Sr., sister Willie Doris Chambers, special aunt and uncle, Henry Hodges Kirk and Alma Kirk; special cousin John Henry Kirk.
