SPC Walter W. (Petey) Dance age 27 of Dyersburg died December 29, 2013 at Regional Hospital of Jackson. McCreight Funeral Home is in charge. Walter was retried from the U.S. Army with an Honorable discharge. He was a graduate of Dyersburg High School. Walter served in the Afghanistan War and Iraq War. Walter received a number of medals that included the Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, Army Good conduct Medal, National Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Humanitarian Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon (2nd Award), Nato Medal and Combat Action Medal. Walter is survive by his Mother, Kathy (Melvin) Shaw of Dyersburg. His father, Walter Church of Covington, Ga. Sister, Jasmine Dance, Jackson, TN. Step-Sister, Migno Church, Paulding Co. Ga. Step-brother, Travis Church, Covington, Ga. Visitation will be held Saturday, January 4, 2014 11:00am Tabernacle Baptist Church 539 East Court St. Dyersburg, TN Funeral services will be held at Tabernacle Baptist at 1:00 p.m.with Bro. Rossi Taylor officiating. Burial will be held in Memorial Park Cemetery in Dyersburg.
