Noble Lee Carter Sr. age 86 of Dyersburg died Thursday, April 30, 2020 at the AHC Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Dyersburg. Arrangement are entrusted to McCreight Funeral Home. Visitation will be held 9:00a.m.-12:45p.m. Wednesday, May 6, 2020. You may walk through and sign the register and view the remains due to COID-19. A private funeral service will be held Wednesday, May 6, 2020 1:p.m at McCreight Funeral Home 1607 Hornbrook St. Dyersburg with the immediate family only DUE to COVID-19. Rev. John Walter Lewis will be officiating this service. Burial will be held in Rocksprings Cemetery in Roellen, TN. Pallbearers; will be Grandsons. Mr. Carter was U.S. Army Veteran. Noble Lee Carter Sr. (Bull), was born to Odell Carter and Pearlie Lawrence January 9, 1934 in Humboldt, TN. "Carter" as his wife Nellie so passionately calls him was the 3rd of 4 children. Carl Carter, Viester Carter, Horty Pearl Lawrence all whom preceded him in death. Noble was baptized at Oak Grove Baptist Church at 12 years old and later went to Pilgrim Rest Missionary Baptist Church until his health failed him. Carter enlisted in the United States Army December 8, 1954. He was Specialist 4th class (E-4). He was an ER, 243, 535,INF-USAR Standby Reserve (Active Status). Carter was Honorably Discharged from the United States Army December 9,1958. The love story between Noble and Nellie begun in 1957. They were married April 14, 1957. They enjoyed 63 wonderful years together. Carter found his gift in butchering and was the best butcher this world has ever seen. Carter started his career in butchering in the 1960's at Davis Sausage Company in Roellen, TN. Carter thought his career was finished when the Davis Sausage burned down in 1988. However, in 1988 Jimmy Deans Foods came to Newbern, TN. and they heard about a man that was "Bad to the Bone" with a knife. They heard that people from miles around would bring their goats, and other live stock for him to cut up for them. They sought out and found Noble Lee Carter Sr. in Rocksprings, TN. Carter accepted the job at Jimmy Deans Foods in 1988 and during that time he received several awards for Outstanding Performer of the Year and the Perfect Attendance Award. One of Awards reads: Perseverance; The difference between a Successful Person and others is Not A Lack of Strength, Not A Lack of Knowledge, But Rather in "Lack of Will." Carter also received the "Excellence" award which reads: The Quality of A Person's Life in Direct Proportion to their Commitment to Excellence, Regardless of their chosen field of Endeavor. Carter retired from Jimmy Dean Foods in 1998. Carter was also a great hunter named "Eagled Eyed Joe" for his precision, by his hunting friends. He was a lover of animals and when he came home from work; the goats, chickens, dogs and cats would fall in line. It was amazing to behold. Carter was the father of 10 children 3 of which preceded him in death, Anthony Carter, Carolyn Carter and Noble Lee Carter Jr. He leaves to mourn his death, his faithful wife Nellie Lou Smith Carter of Dyersburg, (7) children; Earnest Lee Carter Jr. Indianapolis Indiana, Earnestine Smith, Sharon Carter, Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Earnestine B. Smith, Memphis, TN; Mary Carter (Artie) Son-In-Law who preceded him in death). Martha (Reginald) Rogers, Memphis, TN.; James (Crystal) Carter, Sharon, TN.; 34 Grandchildren; Fatina Carter who they raised. He also leaves several Great Grandchildren, Great-Great Grandchildren; Nephews, Nieces, Cousins and Friends. Carter, Nobel Lee, Daddy, Granddaddy, Bull, and Eagled Eyed Joe will be terribly missed.
