With heavy hearts and profound gratitude for a life well-lived, we announce the passing of Mary Alice Vaughn, who departed this world peacefully on May 4, 2026, just four days shy of her 88th birthday. Born on May 8, 1938, in Dyersburg, Tennessee, Mary was a beacon of love and strength, embodying grace and compassion throughout her life.

Mary was the beloved daughter of the late Eugene Barbee and Bertha Barbee. She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, Rosie Chaney, Delois Stewart, Aubrey Nolen, Eddie Barbee, Rev. John Barbee, Jerry Paul Barbee, James Barbee, and her cherished children James, Jennifer, and Jeffrey Vaughn, who she now joins in eternal rest. Despite these profound losses, Mary Alice's spirit remained unbroken, her heart always open and filled with love for those around her.

A devoted mother, Mary is survived by her loving children Effie Randaul (Will Randaul), Ellis Vaughn (Latricia Vaughn), Janice Vaughn, and daughter-in-law Tina Vaughn. Her legacy also lives on in the hearts of numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, as well as a large extended family of cousins, nieces, and nephews. Each of them was touched by her warmth and kindness, a testament to the deep bonds she nurtured.

For several years, Mary worked at Dyersburg Fabric and maintained homes for several families. She was also a devoted Jehovah's Witness, where she found community and spiritual solace. Her faith was a guiding light, one that informed her actions and her interactions with others, leaving a lasting impression on everyone she met. Her home was always open to those in need, a haven where her sweet, calm nature and quick wit could lift any spirit.

Her loving smile was a hallmark of her persona, and she had an extraordinary gift for making everyone feel cherished and valued. Mary angelic presence was a source of comfort and inspiration, a true reflection of her generous heart.

The Vaughn family extends their heartfelt gratitude to all who supported Mary Alice during her courageous battle with illness. Your compassion and care ensured her final days were filled with dignity and peace.
