Lenora Battles Anderson age 84 of Dyersburg, TN. died Saturday, August 6, 2022, at West Tennessee Healthcare-Dyersburg. Arrangements are in entrusted to McCreight Funeral Home 1607 Hornbrook St. Dyersburg, TN. Visitation will be held Saturday, August 20, 2022, 12: Noon-12:55p.m. at New Bethel Baptist Church 725 Carter Lane Dyersburg, TN. Funeral service will follow at 1:00p.m. with Pastor Dr. Calvin Lee Glass officiating, Lord of Lords Ministries Detroit, Michigan and Pastor Marvin Mays of New Bethel Baptist Church. Burial will be held in M.C.C.O. Cemetery in Newbern, TN. Serving as Pallbearers will be family and friends. Lenora Battles was born August 18, 1937, in Dyersburg, TN., the fourth of eleven children born to the late Jack and Katherine Battles. She was preceded in death by five sisters, Lola Battles, Verlene Williams, Lorine Glass, Johnnie Lyte, Zella Roberson and one brother, Walter Battles. Lenora accepted Christ at an early age at the New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church and was running for Jesus ever since under the leadership of the late Pastor Carter. at early age, Lenora understood education and worked hard. She attended Dyersburg Public Schools System and graduated from Bruce High School, where she loved playing basketball. After graduating, Lenora moved to Detroit, Michigan where she met and fell in love with R.C. Anderson and married, to this union no children were born. Her husband preceded her in death. Lenora worked for Dr. and Mrs. Small and Michigan Catholic Archdioceses of Detroit where she retired. Her church affiliations in Detroit, MI., Siloam Missionary Baptist Church, the Pastor RB Friend; King of Kings Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of her brother-in-law, Pastor Clyde D. Glass. After the passing of Pastor Glass, Pastor Michael Johnson became the Pastor. She loved working for the Lord. Her faith was very strong. Lenora attended bible study, prayer meetings, Sunday School and testimonial services. She had a beautiful singing voice and could sing and pray. She loved all aspects of church. Moving back to Dyersburg, TN. to help take care of her mother in 2006. She would then reunite with the New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Marvin Mays. She received her calling as Mother of the church in which she truly loved and continued serving the Lord. Lenora loved listening to gospel music, her favorite: "Cooling Waters", Lee Williams; Take Me to the King, Tamala Mann; her favorite movies, Tyler Perry's BOO! A Madea Halloween. she loved to laugh, cook and clean. Although Lenora never had any children of her own, she was a mother to many nieces and nephews, neighborhood children and the children in the church all of whom affectionally called her: "Aunt Lee". She had a special love for children. God saw that she was getting tired and weak. Calling her home on August 6, 2022, she passed away peacefully at West TN. Healthcare in Dyersburg, TN. We love her but God loved her best and just know, how much we can bear. Lenora leaves to cherish her memories: Survivors include sisters, Sarah (C.F.)
