Ms. Ida L. Pierce age 84 of Dyersburg, TN. died Tuesday, August 30, 2021 at AHC Dyersburg Rehabilitation. Arrangements are entrusted to McCreight Funeral Home. Visitation will be held Sunday, September 5, 2021 1:00p.m.-1:55p.m. at Pilgrim Rest Missionary Baptist Church 208 St. George Ave. Dyersburg, TN. A Celebration of Life will follow at 2:00p.m. with Rev. James Elam officiating. Face Mask are required. Interment will be held in Memorial Park Cemetery 1920 Cumberland Ave. in Dyersburg, TN. Serving as Pall bearers will be family and friends. Ida Louise Pierce (Boonie) was born December 20, 1936, in Dyersburg, TN. to the late Baxter and Rebecca Starks.

Ida peacefully transitioned home to be with the Lord on Monday, August 30, 2021. Ida confessed a hope in Christ at an early age and joined Pilgrim Rest Missionary Baptist Church under the late Rev. B. Shannon. She was united in holy matrimony in 1963 to Mr. Willie Pierce and later moved to Gary, IN, where she joined New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church. After her husband's death in 1995, Ida moved back to Dyersburg, TN, and reunited with Pilgrim Rest under the leadership of the late W. L. McCadney. Ida was Vice-President of Senior Choir, Past President of the Missionary Society, active in Sunday School, on the Kitchen Committee and helped out wherever she was needed. She was a faithful member until her health failed her. Ida was a two-time Cancer survivor and served on Dyer County Relay for Life Pilgrim Rest Team. In addition, she was a member of St. Mary's Order of Eastern Star Chapter 125 PHA, alongside her daughter Maria. Ida was preceded in death by her parents Baxter and Rebecca Starks; her husband Willie Pierce; and her daughter Maria Starks. She leaves to cherish her memory, her son Lonnie (Dianne) Starks of Newbern, TN; her granddaughters: Tiffany (Steven) Murphy of Memphis, TN and Stephanie Starks Brooks of Dyersburg, TN; her grandsons Bradford Starks of Ripley, TN, Stewart Starks and Rick Hall (Yuketa) of Newbern, TN; her great granddaughters Kiarston Blackman and Savannah Murphy of Memphis, TN, and Johanna Hall of Newbern, TN; her great grandson Joseph Hall of Newbern, TN; two adopted sons Ray (Erica) Eison and James (Dorothy) Purnell both of Dyersburg, TN; one adopted daughter Sharon Anderson McElrath of Bowling Green, KY; and a host of other family and friends.
