He was a long time member of St. John#2 Missionary Baptist Church were he served as a deacon and various positions in the church. He served in WWII were he received three Bronze stars, EAME theater ribbon and Good Conduct Metal. He was elected the first black Alderman of Tiptonville, TN. He was a member of Mt.
