Mr. Floyd (Bubba) Mason age 79 of Dyersburg died Thursday, May 8, 2014 at Oakwood Community Living Center in Dyersburg. McCreight Funeral home is in charge. Visitation will be held Thursday, May 15, 2014 11:00am until time of funeral service 12:00 Noon Pilgrim Rest Missionary Baptist Church 208 St. George Ave. with Rev. W.L. McCadney officiating. Burial will be held in Memorial Park Cemetery. Floyd Mason or "Bubba" as he was called affectionately by many was born January 20, 1935 in Dyersburg, Tennessee, the youngest son to the late Alfonzo and Mary Julia Hoard Mason. He quietly slipped away at Oakwood Community Living Center and made his peaceful transition to eternal life on May 8, 2014. Floyd Mason professed a hope in Christ at an early age at Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church and attended Bruce High School. He moved to New York where he lived for many years and was employed at Macy's. He loved to tell stories about New York whether it was the music, the Apollo or singers he was able to see. After retiring from Macy's with 42 years of service, he moved back home to Dyersburg.
Floyd was preceded in death by his parents Alfonzo and Mary Julia Hoard, a sister, Dorothy Copeland, 2 brothers, Charles Mason and David D. Mason. He leaves to cherish his memory 3 sisters,
Lizzie Mason of Dyersburg, Tennessee, Peggy Burton of Milwaukee, Wisconsin and Mary Lee Tait of Harper Mills, Michigan, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.
