Born in the mountains of East Tennessee, Dolly Parton rose from humble beginnings to become one of the most treasured voices in country music and one of the most beloved figures in American culture.

For generations, Dolly brought joy into homes through her music, her unmistakable personality, her humor, and the genuine kindness that became such an important part of who she was. Songs such as Coat of Many Colors, Jolene, 9 to 5, and I Will Always Love You told stories of love, heartbreak, family, perseverance, hard work, and hope. Through those songs, people from every walk of life found something that spoke to their own journey.

Yet Dolly’s legacy reaches far beyond the music she gave the world.

She never forgot the Tennessee mountains that shaped her, nor the humble beginnings from which she came. Throughout her remarkable life, she used her success and influence to pour into others. Through her philanthropy, educational initiatives, disaster relief efforts, and especially Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library, she helped place books into the hands of millions of children and encouraged young minds to read, learn, dream, and believe that their possibilities were greater than their circumstances.
